Privacy Policy

At Hop Burns & Black, we are 100% committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of you, our customer. To ensure you know exactly how we look after your data, we’ve created this Privacy Policy to let you know in clear and simple terms when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to other parties and how we keep it secure.

Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete entirely the personal information that we hold (please note that deleting your information may also delete any remaining Beer Miles or Online Rewards points you may hold). Please email your request to or talk to us in store, and we will action ASAP.

Guest WiFI

If you use our HBBGuest WiFi, data may be collected about your device and the volume of data you use. Don’t worry, we can’t see what you’re browsing (but please don’t download any p0rn or other bad stuff).

Mailing lists and Rewards

As part of the sign-up process for Beer Miles, Online Rewards and our weekly brewsletter, we store some of your information. We use that information for a few reasons: to tell you about things you’ve asked us to tell you about via our weekly newsletter; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; and to check in occasionally to make sure you’re happy and satisfied. Importantly, we never ever sell, rent or trade email lists with any other companies for marketing purposes, so you can take that off your worry list.

MAILING LIST: We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our weekly brewsletter. If you receive this mailout, it’s because you've either opted in to receive it via our Beer Miles programme in store, signed up to receive our brewsletter on our website, or ticked the "yes I want to receive marketing" box when making a purchase on our online shop. We don't do any sneaky data harvesting via any other method, and we never have. You can unsubscribe to this mailing list or update your information at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of any of our brewsletters, or by emailing us at

Mailchimp gathers statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our mailouts. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice.

REWARDS: We use third-party providers Vend and Swell to manage our in-store and online rewards programmes. We have audited each of these companies to ensure they have strong data protection policies which are in line with GDPR regulations. We’re happy to share specifics of these programmes and you can view, amend or delete your data at any time by emailing us at

We work with Shopify for our online orders and Deliveroo for local deliveries. You can view their privacy policies here:

Ticketing data

When you purchase a ticket for our tasting events online, your name, email and contact number is stored in the ticketing system we use, Eventbrite, in line with GDPR regulations (see the Eventbrite privacy policy here). You may, of course, purchase a ticket (or tickets) in person without supplying the aforementioned personal data.

Website cookies

Like most websites, our site uses cookies to collect information. Cookies are short pieces of data that are sent to your computer when you visit a website. This helps us recognise you automatically whenever you visit our site so that we can personalise your experience and provide you with better service. We also use cookies for fraud prevention and other purposes. If your web browser is set to refuse cookies from our website, you will not be able to complete a purchase or take advantage of certain features of our website, such as storing items in your cart. We do not use cookies to collect or record information on your name, address or other contact details.

Google Analytics

When someone visits, we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

This Privacy Notice was updated in April 2018 and will be regularly reviewed in line with GDPR regulations.
